Colorful tabs is working but in extensions list waits for Restart?

Hello,
My Firefox browser updated itself to version 55 and broke a lot of Add-ins. One of them is Colorful tabs. The add-in seems to work, sort of, but in the list of extensions is marked for restart, and I cannot access the options. Is there a work-around, maybe via about:config? I actually only want to change the background color of the tabbar...
