Thanks

November 17, 2017 at 4:33 pm #19993Shivanand SharmaKeymasterI've just created a version compatible with Firefox Quantom 57. The new version will have to be installed manually. Please visit https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/_colorfultabs/
The support is partial but it's going to see rapid updates in the coming days so make sure you install it and don't miss teh autoupdates.
November 18, 2017 at 12:34 am #19999Shivanand SharmaKeymasterEveryone on Firefox 57 should receive an automatic update. Thanks to Patrick (https://www.addongenie.com/forums/users/patrick_kern) for his suggestion, I got it to color the tab using the theme api. It will grow from here. I hope it's a start. Thanks so much everyone for your patience.
November 18, 2017 at 1:02 am #20000looknseeParticipantI have other reasons to dislike Quantum -- it is not backwards compatible. All my customization (e.g. the order of the buttons, putting the tabs at the bottom, etc.). So annoying.
November 18, 2017 at 1:41 am #20003Judy AParticipantI appreciate your effort in attempting to restore, but it just doesn't work, at least for me. I have vision issues and colorful tabs made it possible for me to use the browser at all. Having to click away in order to see different color tabs might work with 5 tabs, but it sure doesn't work with 30. Without colorful tabs, all browsers are the same. Good luck with bringing back colorful tabs, though I think we all know it's gone forever. I can't say I think too much of the contributors to FF over the last many years. FF has been slowly, but surely, getting more and more gummed up. There is only one reason I can think of for why contributing programmers would prevent carrying colorful tabs over to Quantum. It conflicted with something they wanted to do, so they dropped it in the trash, despite the fact that millions of people use it. Google does the same thing and it doesn't even matter if you pay for it. They wait for you to get embedded in a program and then they nix it, or it becomes incompatible with the other programs you use. They've destroyed maps and since they bought Waze, they're in the process of destroy that too. I went back to Garmin.
Aside from losing a most valuable add-on, the design is terrible. I lost all my customizations. As it stands, at least to me, it looks like a cheap, watered down version of the original. I guess I'm supposed to spend time trying to make it work for me again, which I won't do, especially since the add-ins and themes don't come close to how it used to be. Programmers think we just don't like change. Keep thinking that and FF will disappear due to lack of public interest in it.
So, Chrome/Opera for now. Thanks for your time and effort.
So disappointed and disheartened.
November 18, 2017 at 11:06 pm #20013Dean WolfeParticipantI did the update but the tabs are not colored until you click on them......not rally what I was looking for. Are the future updates going to make colorful tabs work like they did in the previous browser? This is driving me crazy... 🙁
November 19, 2017 at 6:26 pm #20038Yuriy KoblentsParticipantThank you very much for implementing fast Colorful Tabs for Firefox version 57 (Quantum).
Just to report a few problems with the implementation (under Windows 10 version 1709, do not know about other operation systems):
1. Title bar disappeared, together with the standard small icons: Move/Size/etc. Firefox icon in the left corner, and minimize (_), maximize (square), close (x) icons in the right corner.
2. Without the title bar, it is impossible to move open window around the screen.
3. All tabs except the current one are black.
4. Also black is the two areas: to the left of the tabs with the '<' icon to move farther to the left tabs, and to the right of the tabs with the icons '>', '+', and 'arrow down". The icons still work, but it is impossible to see them on the black background.
5. The menu bar above tabs also became black. Fortunately, the menu items still are visible (as dark gray), but barely. It may create problems for people with bad vision.
Hope the information will be useful.

November 20, 2017 at 10:57 am #20049Diego MeneghettiParticipantDear Shivanand, I have used colorful tabs for many years and now it is simply impossible. I have always appreciated your job in coorful tabs: it is easy to use and very helpful. I thank you for this very good extension but now with Firefox Quantum, it doesn't work anymore.
What I miss is al the options and settings I had before Firefox Quantum:
1) colorful palette and customize/choose colors
2) fading function which makes tabs almost invisible
3) setting the tabs shape from square to roundedDear Shivanand, can you restore all these functions please?
Thanks.

November 20, 2017 at 12:15 pm #20050Dave HaussParticipantI just tried the new version on FIREFOX 58.0B4 and it does not do anything. I get an ORANGE STAR on the toolbar but none of the tabs are colored.
Thanks...
November 20, 2017 at 6:09 pm #20051Patti JonesParticipantLike everyone else ...
Colorful tabs does not work after the Firefox upgrade.
All of my inactive tabs are transparent.
For my coworker all of their inactive tabs are black.
Would love to see this fixed.
Colorful tabs was a great add on and very helpful.November 20, 2017 at 7:49 pm #20052Dave HaussParticipantI thought the new version was working but I guess not...
