I recently switched from Firefox to Chrome full-time. Why? Too many reasons but in short, it was taking a lot of CPU and burned out my MacBook Pro charging socket. Chrome runs cool. And then I realized that Firefox Quantum has decided to be a clone of Google Chrome. So I though why bother?
Some developers decided that Firefox should go the Chrome’s way because of declining popularity. The reason they give is it’s better for the web and it’s better for us.
Now that Firefox is not as customizable as it was, it’s only reasonable to pick the better of the two browsers.
I don’t miss much but tab-management is… huh eweeee! I open like many many tabs… like around 100 or so. What happens in chrome?
It’s fugly.
- There’s no tab label.
- There’s no close icon.
- There’s no way to scroll to reach the right most tab.
- There’s no indication which is which.
You are literally working in the blind here. So finally here’s what I built.
And remember this is just a start 🙂

Today you updated the colorful Tabs addons and it has created a problem in Firefox. The default theme turns into a black and yellow theme. I disabled the Colorful tabs and the problem got solved. Please correct the problem with the Tab.
I love this tab and would like to see it work with the latest Firefox 57.0

I was surprised, as were many, than colorfultabs doesn’t work in F57 (Firefox’s page suggests that I should NOT use the ESR form). Adding CFT doesn’t help. On my other computer, I uninstalled F57and went back to F56 (PITA–lotta malware; OK…). I will NOT go to F57 until ColorfulTabs readily goes onto it. Please. Perhaps Mozilla should WARN people about this major deficit?

Colorful tabs is the BEST. I know you are working hard to upgrade it to Firefox Quantum 57. Let me know where to make a contribution to help the effort. (How about that. A customer who puts his money where his mouth is…..)

Try as I may, I cannot find a way to customize any colorful tabs settings? I go to Menu->Add-Ons->Extensions->ColorfulTabs. There is nothing to allow changing anything? I do not see “Colorful Tabs Options” as some web sites indicate?
In the prior version, it was apparent how to change settings. What am I missing?
Thanks for your time.

Hello, What happened to your MacBook Pro happened to me as well. Please, can you tell me what you did to fix it? I don’t know what to do exactly as I did not know that Firefox was responsible for burning out all my charging outlets… I used to love Firefox but I also am about to switch to Chrome. Thanks to respond to me as soon as you can.

so you’re saying you have abandoned FireFox altogether? Hum. That’s too bad because Chrome on my equipment, Windows, behaves differently than FireFox as it lies on the screen. FireFox is easier to read and it functions much better. However, for binge watching movies via browser Chrome is better than FireFox. For doing regular data stuff, I prefer FireFox as Chrome just doesn’t render correctly on Windows – any version.

Installed the colorful tabs in Firefox 58, and to my dismay it turns out that you also color everything else above the tabs. In addition, it’s you who sets the colors, which are not exactly what a user would prefer. Please consider rectifying both issues. Let us color the tab only, and allow us to select our own colors.
Thank you.

Does anybody from Colorful Tabs read this? I’m seeing lots of questions and no answers.
I just installed Colorful Tabs after a Firefox refresh, and now not only the tabs are colored, but also th bookmarks br, the add-ons bar, the address bar. It makes everything difficult to read and is annoying. How do I get back to where just the TAB is colored? I don’t see any setting to do that.
Thank you.

@Peter, this post is about ColorfulTabs for Google Chrome not Firefox. Additionally you haven’t provided any info on which operating syste, version of Firefox and Colorfultabs you are using.
